What kind of curriculum do you follow?
In the Claras level, the children will learn the Royal Academy of Dance Pre-Primary exercises and technique, while in the Odettes level they will learn the Primary exercises and technique.
What do your camps look like?
During the school year, we have Winter Wonderland Camps, Springtime Ballerina Camps, and also our School’s Out Camps which are all daily half-day camps.
Over the Summer, we have week-long half-day camps.
Camps are 9:00-12:00 or 12:00-3:00, but you can sign up for both back-to-back for a full day experience.
Our camps include one of our classes, along with snack time, crafts and games.
For morning camps (9:00-12:00), we only have a snack time where we provide goldfish. The afternoon camp (12:00-3:00) has a lunch time right at the beginning of the camp where we ask parents to pack a lunch that they will eat first thing with other afternoon campers and our full-day campers too. A different snack can be brought for the morning camp, we just ask that no outside snacks or lunches contain nuts.
Also, we do not have a naptime built into either morning or afternoon camps should that be a need for your ballerina.
What should my dancer wear to class?
Girls should wear pink or lavender leotards and pink ballet shoes. They may wear either pink tights or thin pink or white socks. Hair should be pulled neatly away from the face, preferably in a bun.
Boys should wear a white t-shirt along with black jazz pants, leggings, bike shorts, or tights, and white socks with black ballet shoes.
Personal items should be left with each student’s adult. Jewelry should not be worn during classes.
If you are looking for attire for class, please feel free to look at these suggested items at discountdance.com through this link: https://bit.ly/130482BP and by using our teacher code: 130482.
If you are buying new shoes this session, we recommend purchasing shoes without bows as little dancers are often upset by bows that end up untied. An example can be seen in the Discount Dance link above. I find leather shoes fit true to size (consider a half size up for room for growth), and that canvas shoes run small (consider a full size up from street shoe sizes).
Do you have a make-up policy?
At this time, we do not offer make-up classes. Please see our Student Absences Policy below that can be found in our Welcome Week information sheet among our other policies:
Student Absences: Please let the office know when your dancer is going to be absent by emailing isabelle@balletpetite.com. Miss Isabelle and your teacher care about how your dancer is doing and their wellbeing. It assists with understanding their progress in class and any adjustments that would be helpful. Classmates become friends and form bonds in each class, and the training development is unique to their class. In order for the class to blossom and grow with consistency, make-ups are no longer available during the session. Thank you very much!
Does your school offer free trials?
Yes, we do! We allow one free trial class per student for our new students should they be unsure about starting dance classes with us. However, priority will be given to full enrollments over trials. Please sign up for trial classes on the registration portal. We know that they will love it!
Where can I find the School Schedule and Welcome Week information with your policies?
If you are interested in knowing anything there is to know about our classes along with our School Schedule for the year, please follow this link: https://bit.ly/BPWelcomeWeek
What is your drop off policy?
We will have a processional lineup at the door, dancers need to have their ballet shoes on and hair up, an optional labeled water bottle, and all outside or pedestrian clothes will stay outside of the dance room with their caregiver.
What is your policy for COVID-19?
Masks will now be optional, as we are following the revised Montgomery County Public School guidelines. We will continue to follow the epidemiology of the COVID pandemic in our area and may return to universal masking in the future if necessary. We suggest that one person does drop-off/pick-up. Class size has been limited to 8 students currently. We only allow the students and teacher in the dance room; all others will need to wait in other waiting areas or outside; or you may run an errand and come back for pickup.
We recommend a PCR test for verification if the original test was a home or rapid test.
Asymptomatic vaccinated children will not need to quarantine.
If unvaccinated, your child may return to class if they are symptom free after 5 days, repeat testing is not necessary if your child is without symptoms.
If your child has been exposed to COVID:
- Your ballerina may remain in class if no symptoms are present while wearing a well fitted mask.
- Please test several times after exposure to confirm your child remains negative.
Miss Isabelle has been fully vaccinated for those of you that are curious.
Do you have a special designated playground?
This depends upon location, please ask your teacher if you can use the playground at the location.
Is Miss Isabelle the author of Lisée At The Ballet: The Nutcracker?
Yes! For more information, please visit her author page at www.IsabelleParenti.com or you can buy the book here.
